Memories of Alex
College / Fraternity
Alex was a sophomore in the honors program at Boston College at the time of his death. He was recently nominated for induction
into the Golden Key National Honors Society.
Alex was a founding member of the University's
first fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. He and his fraternity brothers stand for: Virtue, Diligence, & Brotherly Love.
Love of Music
Alexander's journey into music began when he was three years old. Brianna's piano teacher, Katie, taught him hot cross buns during
one of Brianna's lessons. This eventually led to his study at the Amadeus Conservatory at Debbie Muladufsky's School in Chappaqua. There he was taught
classical music with Serge "got to be..." Bonair. Alex ended up going to the school in Briarcliff, studying with Alan, who was an intense
latin jazz guy, but would help Alex with anything he wanted to learn.
A talented keyboardist, Alex and his band, The Jays, performed in venues in and around New York City. They were particularly engaged
in raising funds for cancer research on behalf of his friend Demetri "Derma" Demeropoulos, who preceded him in death.
High School Honors
Alexander graduated with high honors from Briarcliff Manor High School in 2009, and was a member of the Tri-M Musical Honors Society. His research won him the regional prize for Mathematics in the nationwide Intel Science and Talent Search.
Career Aspirations / Philanthropy
Alexander was a valued member of the team for the last three years as an intern at Risk Resources, LLC, a financial advisory boutique in New York City. He was engaged in a wide variety of philanthropic activities, including City Meals on Wheels, the Robin Hood Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, and the Friends of the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.
Letters By Friends & Family
Letter by Chris "Bill" Schilling
Alex was my best friend since the first day of fifth grade, and I have been finding that it is difficult for me to imagine a single significant moment in my life where he was not there. He was my twin, the Bevis to my Butt-head if you will. Most importantly, Alex was my brother in nearly every sense of the word . . . Read More
I know nothing can be said or done to alleviate the pain you are feeling; and I know that no one knows better than you that Alex was a beautiful, bright, unique soul. But I wanted to tell you something about Alex that you might not already know, to show you what he meant to me, what he meant to many of us . . . Read More
Lyrics By Alex
See it through the spotlight -
nothing more than a glimpse
Nothing more than a glimpse in my world.
The Fire it does burn bright - the light it is lost
Silver shadow moonlight covers it all.
Faces of the years - turn towards the hot plate
Feeling the sun shine break through skin.
The sea and the sand - together and wordly
Overcome Abbeys swim down with the tide.
Desert sun firelight - breaks through the darkness
No one can see it but the little girl.
Well I was sitting next to you
Thinking of all the things that were left to do
And I couldn't think of anything
Well I asked the birds and I asked the bees
I asked the moss that grows on the trees
But they all told me the same thing
Sunlight pouring through the walls of a cage
Infrared rays going to melt down the stage.
